Detailed Explanation
Tome of Madness doesn't feature traditional exponential payout growth through mathematical multipliers on cascades. Instead, the game uses a linear accumulation system where each cascade generates individual payouts that are simply added together during a single spin.
The payout mechanics work as follows:
- Winning symbol clusters (4+ matching symbols touching horizontally or vertically) are removed from the 5×5 grid
- Remaining symbols drop down, and new symbols fall from the top
- Each new winning combination formed is calculated and paid separately
- This process repeats until no more winning combinations can form
The real growth potential comes from Portal Effects rather than mathematical multiplication. As you collect winning symbols (7, 14, 27, and 42 symbols), the game awards Special Wilds that extend cascade chains. These Special Wilds can trigger additional effects like the Abyss (removing entire rows/columns) and Void (removing all symbols of one type), which generate more winning combinations and further payouts.
The key to larger wins is cascade longevity—keeping the cascade alive longer through strategic symbol placement and feature activation, not through exponential mathematical growth. The Eye Mark feature also adds 2 Special Wilds when wins land on marked positions, creating additional winning opportunities within the same spin.
